Lecture Series

Lectures are organized throughout the year, and they are free to all OLLI members; members are also encouraged to register a non-member guest for in-person lectures, as a one-time sample of OLLI’s member programming. Speakers have included U. of I. faculty, community members, and scholars and artists from across the country and around the world.

Free lectures have always been a rich opportunity to discover new subjects in a one-time educational experience. In 2018-2019, OLLI organized and hosted more than 50 lectures.

Some recent lectures have included:

  • • Corona Virus Pandemic: INvestigating the Outbreak
    • The Great Unconformity: A Billion Years of Missing Time at Your Fingertips
    • How To Stop COVID-19 Using Mathematics
    • The Prisoner vs. the President: Alexei Navalny and the Return of Politics to Russia
    • Ludwig van Beethoven: Rebellious and Revolutionary
